The Prodig Tech GL-8s is a precise and easy-to-use paint thickness gauge designed for checking vehicle paintwork on steel, galvanized steel and aluminium panels. With a measuring range of 0–2000 µm, selectable resolution of 1 µm or 10 µm, and a flexible cable probe, it is well suited to vehicle inspections, paintwork assessment and repair-history checks.
The flexible probe features an elastically suspended measuring head, helping maintain consistent pressure against the panel and reducing the influence of hand movement. This makes measurements easier and more repeatable, particularly when working across larger vehicle panels.
The integrated Measurement Assistant® helps interpret paint thickness readings and can indicate whether the measured layer may be unusually thin, within a normal range, repainted or contain filler. The actual measurement value should always be used alongside the assistant when assessing a vehicle.
With memory for up to 200 measurements, a backlit LCD display, HOLD function, audible measurement signal and automatic power-off, the GL-8s combines practical features with straightforward operation. It is an excellent choice for PDR technicians, bodyshops, detailers, vehicle traders and automotive professionals who need a reliable way to assess vehicle paintwork.

The built-in Measurement Assistant® provides a quick indication of what a paint thickness reading may mean:
THIN – unusually thin paint layer
LAK OK – normal paint thickness
2xLAK – possible second paint layer or repaint
PUTTY! – possible filler or multiple paint layers
The Measurement Assistant® is intended as a helpful guide. The actual measured thickness should always be considered when evaluating the condition and repair history of a vehicle.
